The MSBG uses a proprietary solution and terminology to group and manage RTP resources
and SIP interfaces. The Signaling Routing Domain (SRD) is used as the umbrella object to
gather, group, and configure resources and interfaces on the MSBG. Where there are multiple
media realms, SIP trunks, gateways, and the like, the SRD is used for differentiate and sort out
the traffic. Up to 32 SRDs can be set up for this purpose.
In this case, the default of two SRDs was sufficient. Each SRD object is configured with an
Index value. For overall simplicity and congruency within the MSBG, SRD Index ‘1’ defines
LAN-side resources and interfaces. SRD Index ‘2’ is used for the WAN-side resources and
interfaces. As noted previously, the Index values are customer configurable as desired.
As shown below, SRD Index 1 is named ‘LANSRD’ for convenience. The attached Media Realm
is the ‘LANRealm.’ It is an ‘Anchor Media’ for the Internal SRD Media Anchoring field. The
assigned Sever is configured with Index ‘1’ and linked to the ‘Lync Server.’ The Proxy Set ID is
‘1’. The Proxy Keep Alive parameter is set to use the SIP Options (180) messages. Configuring
an SRD table demonstrates the importance of giving forethought to the MSBG naming scheme
before starting down one path and realizing there was a better way.
If there is a desire to limit the Maximum Number of Registered Users, the valus should be set to
something other than ‘-1.’ The ‘-1’ singifies an unlimited amount. Likewise, the customer must
determine if Unregistered and Unauthenticated users will be supported on the LAN-side of the
MSBG.
